Connect ContentMonk to ChatGPT and run your AI-search and content workflow in a conversation - check your AI-answer visibility, do keyword research and rank tracking, produce and publish content, and manage your knowledge base, right inside ChatGPT.
What it is
The ContentMonk connector is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) app that gives ChatGPT secure, permissioned access to your ContentMonk workspace. Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to:
Track and improve your visibility in AI answers (AEO/GEO) and see where competitors beat you.
Run keyword research and manage rank tracking.
Create content end to end - research, brief, article - and publish it to a connected CMS.
Repurpose content into social posts.
Read and update your knowledge base, comments, and workspace settings.
ChatGPT calls ContentMonk on your behalf; it only sees the data and actions your workspace role allows.
Requirements
A ContentMonk account with a workspace (any plan). Plan quotas apply (content generation, keyword research, etc.).
A ChatGPT account. ChatGPT apps are supported across plans (including Free, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education); your workspace admin may control which apps are enabled.
Your ContentMonk role determines what the connector can do:
Viewer - read only.
Editor - read, plus create and edit content.
Admin - the above, plus workspace settings.
Extra setup for some tools:
Publishing needs a connected CMS (WordPress or Webflow).
AEO / AI-visibility data needs tracked prompts set up in your workspace.
Search Console suggestions need a connected Google Search Console.
How to connect
In ChatGPT, open Settings -> Apps & Connectors and find ContentMonk (or open the ContentMonk listing in the ChatGPT app/connector directory), then add it.
Sign in when prompted. ContentMonk uses secure sign-in (OAuth, powered by WorkOS); authorize access to your workspace on the consent screen.
In a chat, click the + near the message box, choose More, and select ContentMonk to make its tools available in that conversation.
Ask ChatGPT to do something (see example prompts below). Actions that write - like publishing - ask for your confirmation before they run. You can disconnect anytime from Settings -> Apps & Connectors or from your ContentMonk workspace settings.
Developer/advanced option: if you're testing before the app is listed, enable developer mode (Settings -> Apps & Connectors -> Advanced settings), choose Create, and add the connector with the server URL https://api.contentmonk.io/api/mcp.

What you can do (capabilities)
AI visibility / AEO - overall and per-model visibility (ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity), cited sources, tracked prompts, and competitor tracking.
Keyword research & rank tracker - research keywords, add them to ideas, track rankings, and see SERP/competitor positions.
Content production - create a brief, generate the article, edit it, and publish or schedule to a connected CMS (WordPress/Webflow).
Social repurposing - turn an article into social posts (e.g. LinkedIn, Reddit).
Knowledge base - add and search documents that ground your content.
Comments - add and read comments on content editorials.
Settings & usage - read workspace settings and check your plan usage/quota.
Troubleshooting
Connection fails / nothing happens after adding it: make sure you completed sign-in and authorized your workspace on the consent screen. Remove and re-add the connector if needed.
You're asked to sign in again / 401 errors: your session expired or access was revoked - reconnect and re-authorize.
"Quota exceeded" (QUOTA_EXCEEDED): you've hit a plan limit (e.g. content generation or keyword research). Manage your plan on the ContentMonk website, or wait for the quota to reset. (Plan changes happen on contentmonk.io, not inside ChatGPT.)
A brief or article seems to "hang": long jobs run in the background. Ask ChatGPT to check the status in a moment rather than re-running the request.
Too many requests / rate limited: the connector allows up to 240 requests per minute. Slow down and retry.
Write and publish actions: creating, updating, publishing, or unpublishing writes to your live workspace/CMS. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before these run - review the details before you approve.
