Prompts are the questions your target audience is typing into ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overview, and Perplexity. The Prompts page is where you manage which prompts ContentMonk tracks, see how your brand performs in each one, and find new prompts worth adding.
The more relevant prompts you track, the more accurate your visibility data will be across the rest of the product.
What you see on this page
The main list shows all your active prompts. For each one you can see:
Stage - whether the prompt is TOFU (Awareness), MOFU (Consideration), or BOFU (Decision)
Visibility - the percentage of AI responses to that prompt where your brand gets mentioned
Sentiment - whether your brand is mentioned positively, neutrally, or negatively
Position - your average position in the answer (lower number is better)
Mentions - which AI models are returning results for this prompt
Top Sources - the domains most cited in answers to this prompt
Mentioned - a simple yes/no showing if your brand is mentioned at all
Brand Citation - the percentage of answers that cite your brand directly
The left sidebar shows your topics. Topics are groups you create to keep prompts organized - for example by product area, use case, or competitor. Click any topic to filter the list down to just those prompts.
Adding prompts
Click 'Add Prompt' in the top right to add prompts manually.
Enter one prompt per line, then assign a buying stage and optionally a topic and tags. You can add multiple prompts at once - just paste them in, one per line. Click 'Add Prompt' to save.
You can also Import prompts from a CSV file if you're migrating from another tool or have a list ready to go.
Getting prompt suggestions
Not sure which prompts to track? Click the 'Suggested' tab at the top of the page.
ContentMonk suggests prompts based on your brand and category. You can get suggestions automatically (Auto), give custom instructions to describe what kinds of prompts you want, or browse suggestions by topic or funnel stage.
Each suggestion shows how often it's searched per month and what buying stage it belongs to. Select the ones you want and add them to your tracking list in one click.
Viewing data for a single prompt
Click into any prompt to open its detail page.
Here you'll see data specific to that one prompt - a visibility trend chart, a brand breakdown table showing how you and your competitors perform, which AI models are returning results, and the top sources being cited.
This is useful when you want to understand why you're visible (or invisible) in a particular query.
There's also a 'Write Article' button in the top right.
Click it and ContentMonk will immediately start researching the SERPs for that prompt.
Once the research is done, the article will appear in Content Editorial in Planning status - with the competitive analysis, content gaps, and instructions already filled in based on what's ranking. From there you go through the brief and content generation steps as normal.
Organizing with topics
Topics keep your prompts manageable as your list grows.
Click 'New' in the left sidebar to create a new topic, then assign prompts to it when adding them or edit existing ones to assign them later.
Filtering by topic is useful when you want to focus on a specific part of your funnel or a specific product area.
Filters
The filter bar at the top works the same as on the Overview page - you can filter by brand, date range, AI model, funnel stage, and topic to slice the data however you need.
